Greek mussels, placed in transparent vacuum-sealed plastic packaging, evoke the aesthetics of industrial production and “Made in China” consumer goods, while exploring the tension between nature and mass consumption. Each mussel is individually numbered, reinforcing the sense of standardization and the complete cataloguing of a natural element within an industrial framework. At the same time, they allude to chance-based products found in certain regions of China, where consumers select a shell in the hope of discovering a pearl inside.
